Becky Tweed

CEA Minnesota Teacher of the Year

Becky Tweed is the cosmetology instructor at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Shakopee, Minnesota. She is a dual licensed career-technical instructor in both cosmetology and barbering. Becky has more than 40 years of experience in the hair industry and 15 year of teaching in both barbering and cosmetology combined. Becky was also the recipient of the 2016 Minnesota DOC Safety Award.

Becky has been a small business owner. She is a member of the Minnesota Salon and Spa Association and served in the past as Minnesota State President of Hair International. Becky is currently an active member of the Minnesota Career-Technical Credentialing Committee and has also served as a member of the Minneapolis Community and Technical College barbering program advisory committee. Her love of the environment has led her to serve as a board member of the Weaver Lake Conservation Association and most recently is working with the Minnesota Correctional Facility - Shakopee Green Committee. Becky has also served her community by sponsoring local festival activities and serving as a Kiwanis board member. Becky believes her life experience of running her own business while raising three daughters on her own prepared her for the challenges and rewards of teaching a career-technical program in a women’s correctional facility.
